You have elected to complete Traffic Safety School for a ticket received in Cook County. National Safety Council has partnered with Cook County to bring you our state-of-the-art, highly interactive Defensive Driving Course-Online version. Failure to comply with your election for Traffic Safety School will result in a conviction being reported to the Secretary of State for entry on your public driving record. To avoid conviction, Traffic Safety School course must be completed 10 days prior to the end of your court supervision. That date is in your instruction letter/email.
NEW STUDENTS: You must have preregistered for this course with the National Safety Council. At that time, you were provided with an Access Code. To begin, click on NEW STUDENT. You will be required to create your own unique Login ID and Password and to choose the course language you prefer – English, Español, Polski. This course is fully bookmarked allowing you to complete the course in multiple sittings. This allows you the flexibility to save your progress, exit the course, and return at your leisure to complete your course.
RETURNING STUDENTS: Once you have bookmarked your progress and have exited the course, you will click on RETURNING STUDENT to reenter the course. You will be asked to enter the Login ID and Password you created when you initially entered the course.
There will be a 25 question post-test at the end of the online course. You must score 80% or better to successfully pass Traffic Safety School. Up to three (3) attempts to pass are provided. You can print a certificate of completion for your personal records when you have completed this course. Once you successfully pass the course National Safety Council will electronically notify Cook County of your compliance with Traffic Safety School. This electronic process is the only way that your court supervision record can be updated.
