Welcome to the State of New Jersey Statewide Defensive Driving Program (SDDP) course, sponsored by the Department of the Treasury, Division of Risk Management (DRM), and the State Accident Review Board (ARB), and administered by the Civil Service Commission (CSC).
The State ARB and DRM are committed to implementing a proactive safety initiative for State drivers to reduce the number of accidents, claims and lawsuits the State incurs. This interactive online course is segmented into six sessions that include real life scenarios, gaming exercises, and videos. Participants can analyze driving situations to identify hazards and execute correct defensive techniques.
State employees can print the official legal certificate from the NSC website immediately upon completing the course. The successful completion status will be transmitted to the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission and recorded in their driver's abstract. The New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission will also apply the point reduction to their driving record. (2 points every 5 years) Employees will also qualify for a mandatory insurance rate reduction of up to 10%, depending on their auto insurance carrier.
